1984 History In Review

30 years have passed since we hit the year of Orwell’s book. We’ve seen much change, but we wanted to look back to see and remember that year in particular.

The Apple Macintosh launched that year, with a very Orwellian ad campaign, positioned during the Super Bowl.

Los Angeles hosts one of the most successful Olympic Games ever, televising events.

A McDonald’s shooting in San Ysidro, CA, in San Diego County, just north of the Mexican border, kills 20 people in the deadliest massacre to date.

Sally Ride becomes the first American woman in space, uttering, “Well, that’s an E-ticket ride!”.

These and more are things we discuss in this episode of 1984 in Review.
