Rankin Bass, who have built pretty much the Christmas animation specials block, decided to branch out into other holidays, spinning off from the Christmas specials like Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, The Year Without a Santa Claus, and Frosty The Snowman, and in 1976 came out with a new special – this time, they went on a journey through the Archipelago of Time, where the Baby New Year, Happy, had run away to.
